This album (produced
by Musikiste, Gütersloh Germany for Ulli Bögershausens label
'Mikado') was recorded live at various venues during 1993. I chose
the title 'Nuts & Bolts' to reflect on the songs included and
also to hint at my past as an engineer. Some
tracks on the album feature my lifelong
musical partner Andy Nutter and some are solo. These tracks were recorded
in such venues as 'Cafe Titanic' Sendenhorst, 'Ferdis Pizza
Pinte' Bielefeld, (an established folk music venue at that time) &
the 'Litfass' Burg Steinfurt. This album is definately the 'Nuts
& Bolts' of my life until 1993. I recently heard
that rare copies of this are now achieving a price of around €30 -
who would have believed it! |

This album was recorded live in
Zagreb Croatia, in 1995 and released in 1996. It features the 'Telefon
Blues Band' who were at the time the resident/in house band for
Croatian television. These tracks were culled from a special show like the
1970s 'Old Grey Whistle Test' to be shown later in that year. The band and
I had played one set together previously in Zagreb,s 'Ruby Tuesday' night
club but we only had three hours rehearsal for this in the middle of a
tour. With only nine tracks this album is short but has a good live
feel and a natural atmosphere. Again a mixture of self written & cover
songs with some excellent work by a versatile band. |

This album was released in 2003 and
was recorded in Germany and the U.K. It features Chris Parkinson
on accordeon & keyboards ,Charles O'Connor on fiddle, Gerry
Spooner on slide guitar, bass & harmonica plus Andy Nutter on
percussion. Nadine Elliott & Arch McCulley help
out on vocals too. This began as an experiment to try and record an album
whilst touring hence the tracks being recorded in Whitby, Detmold &
Bielefeld . The 'Fishermans Tale' was an attempt to write in the
traditional folk style, whilst 'Black is the Colour' is included to
preserve Hamish Imlachs guitar riffs which he developed specially for this
song. Again a blend of original & cover material. |

| Something a bit different
& new : Below are two links to
the re-discovered demo track 'Look into my heart'. I
started working on this track when daily life suddenly went into 'overdrive'
and I promptly forgot all about it. I re-discovered it recently
whilst checking through some DAT recordings. I thought it might be
interesting to show how a song sounds during development. This still
needs arranging , new vocals & cutting to length etc but it could
still be of interest to some.....? |
